Aechmea romeroi is a terrestrial or epiphytic bromeliad species native to humid tropical forests in Ecuador and possibly neighboring regions of northern South America. This plant features a short-stemmed rosette with stiff, spiny-margined green leaves and a compact, upright inflorescence composed of thick, overlapping orange bracts and spear-shaped yellow flowers that develop green tips as they mature. The inflorescence is relatively short and emerges tightly from the leaf axils, showing a color pattern that resembles some members of the subgenus Lamprococcus. Photographed in Ecuador.
