Snapdragons are widely distributed around the world as an ornamental. They are biennial or short-lived perennial plants and can reach a height of up to 3 feet, depending on the variety and have upright stems and lance-shaped leaves. Snapdragons have a wide range of flower colors. The flowers typically have two large and two small petals, giving them their unique mouth-like appearance. This distinctive shape serves as a mechanism to prevent certain insects from accessing the nectar, while allowing longer-tongued pollinators like bees and butterflies to reach it.
