Caesalpinioideae (Unidentified Flowering Tree) (species unidentified)
This legume subfamily includes trees, shrubs, and woody climbers found mainly in tropical regions worldwide. Its members grow in rainforests, seasonally dry forests, and savannas. Leaves are commonly divided into leaflets, sometimes twice, and flowers range from small blooms in dense heads to larger, showy flowers. Many species have nectar-producing glands on their leaves that attract ants. Most are pollinated by bees. Their seed pods vary greatly in shape and in how they open to release the seeds. Photographed in Colombia.
