Malpighia glabra (Barbados Cherry)

A dry tolerant tree that hails from Central America, and extending to parts of Colombia and Venezuela, along with some Caribbean islands. It has a notable presence in the southernmost regions of Texas. Introduced to the tropics​.The fruit can be sweet to acidic and is high in vitamin C and sold on roadsides close to where it is cultivated. Photographed in the Department of Atlantico, Colombia.
