Neustanthus phaseoloides

A vigorous, perennial climbing plant native to East Asia. Adaptable to a range of tropical climates where it has naturatlized. The plant can survive brief dips to temperatures just below freezing. It is harvested for local use as a food, medicine, and source of fiber. It is also an important cover crop in tropical plantation. Photographed in the Valley of Cauca, Colombia.
