Bartlettina sordida (Purple Torch)

Endemic to the cloud forest habitats in Mexico, the Purple Torch reaches a height of 8 feet. It is frost-tender below 25/30°F.Its ornamental charm is large corymbs of lilac pom-pom type flower heads. The inflorescence, a terminal corymbose panicle, presents large clusters of scented flowers that transition in hue from mauve to lilac to pink. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
