The garden dahlia, is native to Mexico and Central America, It has become a popular ornamental plant around the world. This species is known for its intricate flowers, which come in a wide array of colors. It has been widely cultivated, resulting in numerous cultivars and hybrids. It is the national flower of Mexico. Photographed in the central Andes mountain range of Colombia (Cordillera Central).
