Native to China North-Central, China Southeast, Japan, Korea, Nansei-shoto, and Taiwan, this is a shrub in the Theaceae family. This evergreen shrub is a favorite ornamental, particularly in the southeastern United States. There’s a plethora of cultivars, with thousands available showcasing a variety of colors and flower forms. Colors range from white to pink and red. The consistent year-round temperature in Colombia allows for many plants that only have one annual bloom season in the United States to be ever-blooming in Colombia.
