Musa × paradisiaca (Plantain)

Originating from Southeast Asia, is a remarkable hybrid born from the union of M. acuminata and M. balbisiana. The commercial cultivation of Musa paradisiaca is a global endeavor, with Brazil, China, Ecuador, the Philippines, and India leading the charge as its primary producers. Called Platano in Colombia it is part of typical dishes. The starchy fruit is normally fried when either green or the sweeter yellow. Photographed in the central Andes mountain range of Colombia (Cordillera Central).
