La Piedra del Peñol is a massive granite rock formation located in the Antioquia department of Colombia, near the towns of Guatapé and El Peñol. This natural wonder stands out for its impressive height and striking appearance, making it a popular tourist attractions. El Peñón de Guatapé rises about approximately 656 feet above the surrounding landscape. It is 7,005 feet above sea level.
The view of the lake’s numerous islands and peninsulas at the top enhance the scenic beauty. A 740-step staircase built into a crack in the rock allows you to climb to the summit.
